Paxil - powerful antidepressant, whose action mechanism inhibits neurons reuptake of the serotonin by the brain neurotransmitter, known as "happiness hormone". Modern pace of life and abundance of all kinds of stress do antidepressants sometimes only hope to remove the accumulated tension and to put aside own fears and phobias. Paxil is really effective in combating to depressive states of various etiologies and genesis. It doesn't cause (unlike some other antidepressants) rise in blood pressure and has no inhibitory effect on the central nervous system.
Indications for use:
Paxil is indicated in depression of almost all types and degrees of severity:
• Neurotic conditions associated with an obsession;
• Post-traumatic stress disorder;
• Panic disorders, including agoraphobia (open spaces fear);
• Generalized Anxiety Disorder. That is a mental disorder, having no specific object, circumstances or conditions and is characterized by a persistent state of general anxiety and nervousness;
• Social phobia.
Instructions for use:
Regardless of the disease Paxil is recommended for use once a day in the morning during breakfast. The daily dose in depression cases is 20 mg of Paxil. Adjustment of treatment (when necessary) is carried out after 2-3 weeks of therapy. 40 mg of Paxil (per day) is taken in case of obsessive-compulsive disorders, if necessary - 60 mg, but not more. Dosage for Panic disorder is same as for obsessive disorders. The initial 10 mg dose is weekly increased basing on the effectiveness of the therapy. In this case it is recommended starting the treatment with a low dose, so as to not exacerbate the panic symptoms at therapy's initial phase. Dose for social phobias, generalized anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress is limited to 20 mg a day (could be increased to 50 mg).
